Tamarind Brown Rice (Video Recipe)

INGREDIENTS:-

Kohinoor Brown Basmati Rice: 1/2 Cup Soaked for 3 hrs.
Ready-made Tamarind Pulp: 1/2 Tbsp
Oil: 1 tbsp
Chana Daal: 1 Tbsp (soaked)
Mustard Seeds: 1/2 Tsp
Curry Leaves: a few
Methi Dana (Fenugreek Seeds): a pinch
Sugar: 1 1/2 Tsp
Desiccated Coconut: 1 Tbsp
Roasted Peanuts: 1 Tbsp Crushed
Salt: to taste
Red Chilly Powder: to taste
Turmeric (Haldi): a pinch
Water: 1/4 + 1/4 Cup

SERVINGS:-

This quantity will serve 1-2 people.

VIDEO DEMONSTRATION:-

METHOD:-

  • Boil the soaked brown rice in salted water, till done.
  • Mix tamarind pulp in 1/4 cup water.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add Chana daal & sauté for 30 sec.
  • Add mustard seeds & Curry leaves, when it crackles add 1/4 cup water and cook till water evaporates and Chana daal is soft.
  • Now add the spices, tamarind pulp, sugar & mix well
  • Now add boiled brown rice & coconut and toss well with light hands.
  • Add crushed peanuts at the end and toss again with light hands.
  • Tamarind brown rice is ready to serve : )
