Amritsari Paneer Bhurji/Scrambled Cottage Cheese

Hi guys, hope you all are doing good, being happy with the appreciation I got for my last recipe, I thought to learn more, so tried this Paneer Bhurji with a spice twist, got the recipe from my Mom who is a super cook herself. Hope you will like it too.

Refine Oil: 1 Tbsp
Butter: 1 Tbsp
Cumin Seed/Jeera: 1/2 Tsp
Onion: 1 Chopped
Turmeric Powder: 1/2 Tsp
Cumin Powder: 1/2 Tsp
Coriander Powder: 1 Tsp
Ginger: 1/2 Tsp Chopped
Red Chilly Powder: to taste
Salt: to taste
Tomato: 1 Chopped
Green Chilly: 1 Chopped
Sugar: 1/2 Tsp
Dry Ginger Powder: 1/2 Tsp
Paneer/Cottage Cheese: 200 Gms
Lime: 1/2 piece


  • Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds and let it crackle.
  • Add onion, ginger, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chilly powder, salt and cook for 5 mins.
  • Add in chopped tomatoes, green chilly, dry ginger powder, sugar and mix well.
  • Add the crumbled paneer, mix and cook for another 5 mins.
  • Add butter and lime juice.

Paneer Bhurji

  • Serve hot with chapati, naan or parantha.
